| Sports Day - 2nd Term 2012 2012-07-15 …And they are off! Over the past weekend the boys and girls of Ocer Campion Jesuit College participated in the second annual Sports Day. This year however, the Sports Day turned in to a weekend of fun out doors on the sporting fields of Ocer. This year there was also a new twist, the student houses competed against one and other on a quest to hoist the Campion Cup and by crowed champions of the friendly tournament. On Friday afternoon select individuals from the six houses ran a cross country course. Both the girls and boys started from the pond and then branched at the main gate. The boys ran a 5 kilometer route taking them to the nearby Unyama and the girls a 3 kilometer route taking them to PTC. The entire student body cheered the runners upon their return to the main gate. Saturday morning started with wonderful net ball games played by the girls. Net ball was followed by bottle filling and sack races. The second day of the weekend tournament came to an end on the football pitch where the boys entertained the student body and showed their athletic abilities. Sunday morning after celebrating the mass, the students were kept for the final results to be announced. The house of Englibert Mveng received the Campion Cup with a point total of 213. The final activity of the weekend was a friendly soccer match between the teachers and students; the outcome was a surprise with the teachers winning in extra time 3-2. The weekend of activity was a great success and was also a great show of teamwork and sportsmanship which was demonstrated by all participants. |
